The Gala Awards Function will be the pinnacle social event of the ITG2010 Conference. It is an opportunity to meet with artists and delegates attending the Conference and celebrate the achievements of your peers. Scheduled to take place AFTER the festival of trumpets/awards presentation, this is a great chance to mix with competition and award winners, exchange congratulations and generally enjoy the camaraderie of friends, old and new, late in what will have been a most memorable conference. Entertainment and delicious Australian canapés will make for an exciting and memorable event. A cash bar will be available.

ITG2010 Yamaha Youth Day has been specially created for the younger developing trumpet player; however there will be plenty of pedagogical information and just pure inspiration to make it worthwhile for any player aiming at getting back to basics. Delegates of all ages and levels of experience are welcome to listen, learn and play across all five days!
ITG2010 Yamaha Youth Dayhighlights include:
- Gala evening concert featuring The World Premiere of Robert Bradshaw's "Concerto for Two Trumpets", played by James Ackley and Seelan Manickam and Rex Richardson premiering Jim Stephenson’s new Concerto for Trumpet, as well as a range of music from brass ensemble to big band jazz.
- Rex Richardson leading sessions on trumpet technique and jazz trumpet playing in.
- Master class with Yigal Meltzer.

Australian Student Elite Trumpet Ensemble
The Australian Student Trumpet Ensemble will be formed to provide playing experience for developing Australian school students within the context of ITG2010’s exciting environment. Students will be able to play on the same stage and to the same audiences as their heroes will be doing all throughout this great event. The ensemble will be able to receive coaching from high profile ITG2010 trumpet artists. By applying to be part of the Australian Elite Schools Trumpet Ensemble, this is your opportunity to meet them and get great tips to advance your trumpet playing. Get your friends, band mates or ensemble together and get involved in ITG2010.
The Elite Trumpet Ensemble is open to full time students from across Australia. All students must be school aged (up to an including 18 years of age and not yet be engaged in tertiary courses). It is preferred that students are of AMEB 5th grade standard or equivalent standard.
It is envisaged that students will attend coaching and rehearsals on ITG2010 Yamaha Youth Day(6 July 2010) from esteemed ITG performers and will perform on the evening of 6 July at the ITG2010 Yamaha Youth DayMajor Concert. Australian Student Elite Trumpet ensemble applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the entire ITG event and a reduced fee will apply. Applications must be received by 31 January 2010.

International Student Trumpet Ensemble
The International Student Trumpet Ensemble is an exciting addition to the ITG2010 program and presents a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for school aged students at this world-class International Trumpet Guild Conference.
All students registered to attend the ITG2010 conference and who are of AMEB grade 4 and above will be eligible to join the International Student Trumpet Ensemble. These students must be school aged (up to an including 18 years of age and not yet be engaged in tertiary courses).
It is envisaged that students will attend coaching and rehearsals on ITG2010 ITG2010 Yamaha Youth Day(6 July 2010) and will perform in the gala Festival of the Trumpets event to be held on Saturday, 10 July 2010.

Competitions
The ITG traditionally runs a wide range of competitions at each Conference. ITG2010 will have all of these established competitions including a comprehensive youth section.

All students should consider taking part in some of the various competitions. Preparing early will ensure your best chance and participation will heighten your ITG2010 experience.
New Works Recitals
New Works recitals are an opportunity for delegates to experience newly composed live trumpet music in real time. Over many years, these sessions have encouraged the composition of many important additions to the trumpet repertoire. ITG2010 will offer the opportunity for performers and composers alike to present new, exciting and innovative music.

Festival of Trumpets
Held on the last day of the conference, Festival of Trumpets (FOT) is a long-term ITG tradition. After a week of being inspired, most will want to pick up their horns and play. This is the chance for delegates to take part in some music making of their own. Sometimes, they will also be playing alongside the very artists that they have been admiring during the event.
To Apply
Notify the Festival of Trumpets Coordinator, Tim Weir (tweir@bridgewater.edu) any time up to the opening of the Conference with expressions of interest in taking part. All participants who wish to be named in the conference program should apply to the FOT Coordinator by 31 March 2010.
Music will be allocated with preference to applicants prior to 31 March 2010. All other applicants will be placed on a reserves list and notified if they are needed to fill any ‘gaps' that may appear.
Players may apply for:
- Main FOT - should be advanced college or professional standard.
- Conductors - trumpeters with conducting skills should advise the coordinator if they are interested in conducting a work. This may be a work they have suggested or one which is allocated to them. Composers wishing to conduct their own premieres should also apply to the Coordinator.
- Massed FOT - depending on commissions, there may be works that will be suitable for the developing player - of all ages.
- Student FOT - ITG2010 Student Trumpet Ensemble will also be involved in FOT. See Student Trumpet Ensemble details for information on how to join the ITG2010 Student Trumpet Ensemble.
Information regarding the above should be provided to the FOT Coordinator at time of application.
Music
Suggestions of repertoire should be made to the FOT coordinator by 31 March 2010 so that a comprehensive program can be assembled and published. Preference will be given to recently composed, world premieres and works which have major significance to the trumpet ensemble repertoire. Program balance will also be a consideration.
Assistance
No financial assistance, including registration, is offered to FOT participants.
Trumpet Preludes
Trumpet preludes are an opportunity for mostly school and college trumpet ensembles to present exciting preludes to various sessions throughout the conference. These preludes take place immediately prior to the relevant session and are witnessed by the audience for the session. They should be of a high standard and include music which will inspire and encourage.

The Research Room
Extension of Call for Research Proposals for the 35th International Trumpet Guild Conference,
Sydney Australia July 6-10, 2010. Submissions will now close February 15th, 2010.
The primary aim of this session is to provide a forum for current higher education / tertiary level teachers, performers, graduate students, Teaching Assistants and professors to present experimental, action, qualitative, or quantitative research, ideas, or theories about trumpet performance and/ or pedagogy.
Presenters may choose to submit either a) 15-20 minute oral presentation or b) a poster(electronic or paper based) and their work may be developed from graduate or dissertation work, or recently published material.
Presenters will be given the opportunity to share their work with interested participants over the course of the session, with presenters chosen for oral presentations making their presentations on the same day as the poster presentations. Presenters will benefit from sharing their work with others in the room, informally, and professionally have access to future collaboration nationally, and internationally. It is proposed that those presenters sharing a 15-20-minute overview of their work would deliver handouts and summaries of their work and/or findings and presenters with posters would also be available for the length of the entire session. Presenters sharing a poster of their findings would also be asked to provide handouts and summaries of their work and /or findings.
Submissions should be submitted electronically attached to an email in the following manner:
- As a word document -doc , docx, or PDF. Please use 1-inch margins and double-spaced text, in 12 point Roman Numeral font. The submission title should be 100 characters maximum in length, upper and lower case.
- The proposal should be in abstract format, up to 500 words in length, with a reference list, and any figures or tables that will assist the review panel.
- The submission abstract should provide an indication of the proposed presentation's subject, content, and/ or findings. This abstract will be printed and distributed to all conference attendees at the International Trumpet Guild Conference.
Please do not include names or affiliate institutions on the actual submission document file.
Submissions will now be accepted anytime until February 15th, 2010, and will be reviewed by a panel of experts in trumpet performance and pedagogy.
Submissions should be attached to an email, that includes the following

- Title/Position
- Institution
- Address
- Phone
- Whether the proposal is to be considered for oral presentation or poster presentation, or both.
Please send the email with the submission attachment document to kparkes@vt.edu. All submissions will be acknowledged and authors will be notified of acceptance by 28 February 2010. Accepted presentation authors of both posters and oral presentations will have their abstracts printed in the Conference Proceedings of the International Trumpet Guild.

The John Foster Collection
The ITG2010 Conference will, for the first time, feature Australia's most comprehensive display of original and historical replica brass instruments from the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries, with commentary. The collection includes historical Slide Trumpets, Hunting Horns, Cornetti, Natural Trumpets, Baroque Trumpets, Keyed Trumpets, Demilune Trumpets, Bugles, Post Horns, Cornopeans, Cornets and Valved Trumpets.
Master Class Room
Run by former ITG president, Jeff Piper, the Master Class Room will provide delegates with the chance to play for and receive helpful feedback from one of the many expert teacher/trumpeters on the ITG Board of Directors past and present. A sign up sheet will be available at the Conference.
