James Blunt Retires

James Blunt retires from AOBO after almost three decades Following the best part of 30 years service to the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, James Blunt, principal trumpet from 1979-2001, has decided to leave the orchestra to pursue other activities.

Trumpet Conference 2006

The Australian Guild Trumpet Conference (featuring Vincent DiMartino) was held at the Sydney Conservatorium High School on 16 & 17 September.

New Website Launched

Our new website has been launched - we hope to have this page updated regularly with trumpet news from around the country!

ATG has a new webmaster and a new site host. We are pleased to announce that new member, Clint Allen, has agreed to be the ATG's new web master.


Furthermore, the ATG has secured hosting on the ITG Web Server at Oklahoma City University. Thanks to the University and also ITG webmaster, Michael Anderson, for making this possible. No longer will you be assailed by popup adverts!!!

Vale Richard “Dick” Montz 

Sydney’s jazz, classical and music education community have gathered to pay tribute to Richard “Dick” Montz.  Losing his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, on December 27, 2005, Dick was laid to rest following a moving service at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Cremorne (Sydney, Australia) on January 3.

Seventh Chapter Ensemble CD

The Brisbane-based Seventh Chapter Ensemble, a contemporary brass quintet augmented with drums have just released a new CD entitled "With Bricks Thrown At Ya" which features brand new compositions by a host of local composers. The group have made a name for themselves as exceptional interpreters of modern music. This new CD, supported by Arts Queensland, showcases works that blend classical, jazz, funk and even hip-hop music!
